The Australian Online Giving Foundation is a Public Ancillary Fund registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) and Australian Taxation Office working to improve philanthropy in Australia. Together with our service provider Benevity, Inc., we are working to improve the charitable landscape by reducing the costs and overhead of donation processing through aggregation, automation, and outsourcing.
The Australian Online Giving Foundation is a charity working to improve Philanthropy in Australia, by maximising donor contributions to eligible charities, through a Donor Advised Fund. By operating with minimal administrative overheads, we can make it easier and more efficient for a broad demographic of donors to give, and worthy charitable organisations to receive donations.
Established in 2014, we are a public ancillary fund registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) and Australian Taxation office (ABN:51 321 766 943).
We have tax-exempt status and provide our donors with tax receipts for their contributions.
We make gifts (disbursements) to organisations with a deductible gift recipient (DGR) status with the Australian tax office.
Donor Advised Fund
A donor advised fund is a charitable vehicle that separates the tax event from the disbursement event. This means donors can direct their contributions to multiple charities, but receive a single tax receipt. Donors can also receive a tax receipt for contributions made today but delay their decision about where they would like to direct their contributions. The tax advantages, cost savings and administrative convenience of DAFs are just a few reasons why they are a popular alternative to direct giving.
The Australian Online Giving Foundation is a donor advised fund partner of Benevity, issuing aggregated disbursements for all donations made to eligible Australian organisations through the Benevity Giving Platform. Benevity’s mission is to improve the charitable landscape by reducing the costs and overhead of donation processing through aggregation, automation, and outsourcing.
Disbursements may include one or more individual donations as well as matching funds from Benevity’s many corporate clients. Recipient charities can access reports on the companies and donors included in their disbursements, and reach out to more potential donors using the Benevity platform, by registering at the Benevity Causes Portal.
